The book of Revelation (or, the Apocalypse) is an account of a
vision which John (probably the apostle) had about things to
come. It was sent to seven churches in the Roman province of
Asia. It contains strange imagery with symbolic colors and
numbers. The main point is that people should persevere because
God will win in the end.
Read the following from Revelation:
1:9-19 the vision on the Lord's day
2:1-7 the letter to the church at Ephesus
v. 4--left your first love
3:14-22 the letter to the church at Laodicea
v. 15-16--neither cold nor hot, but lukewarm
6:1-8 the four horsemen
12:1-17 the battle in heaven
20:1-6 the thousand years
20:11-15 the final judgment
21:1-14 the new Jerusalem
22:17-20 the invitation and the warnings
Briefly answer the following questions on another sheet of paper
for homework. Be sure to put your name on it.
Who appeared to John on the Lord's day?
What was the main problem with the church at Ephesus?
What was the main problem with the church at Laodicea?
What was the name of the rider on the pale green horse?
Who did the red dragon represent?
What was written in the books by which the dead were judged?
Bonus: What is the second death?
SUGGESTION: To get the most out of Revelation, block off a time
(two or three hours) that it would take you to read it in one
sitting, and read it all the way through, as if listening to a
dream that someone was telling you about.
