Probably the books' patron (same with book of Luke)

Sequel to Luke ("the first book")

Still a book about what Jesus is doing
Sometimes called "Acts of the Holy Spirit"

Thesis: Acts 1:8--witnesses in:

  1. Jerusalem (chap. 1-7)
  2. Judea and Samaria (chap. 8-12)
  3. the end of the earth (chap. 13-28)

Two primary human characters:

Peter (1-12) and Paul (13-28)

Secondary human characters:

Stephen, Philip, Barnabas, Silas, Timothy

Importance of Acts:

  1. First history of the church
  2. Shows early growth of the church (especially toward Europe)
  3. Illustrates conversion through several accounts
  4. Shows importance of the church and church planting
