Accents

Acute-rising (high) tone; can stand on any syllable
Circumflex-rising (high) and falling (low) tone; stands on long vowels only
Grave-falling (low) tone; on verbs stands on last syllable

The rising (high) tone on verbs can only stand three beats forward from the end of the word at most; short vowels get one beat; long vowels and diphthongs get two
