Since the program is DOS-based, it runs on a Windows 32-bit computer or in a DOSBox window on a Windows 64-bit computer or Mac.
Download DOSBox from [https://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1]. Run the installer program.
Create a directory/folder named budget under Documents. Download Budget Aid to the budget folder and extract the compressed files.
To make an icon in Windows on your screen to start Budget Aid, right click on the screen and choose New, then Shortcut. For the location fill in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\DOSBox-0.74-2\DOSBox.exe" "c:\Users\(replace with username)\Documents\budget\budgetx.exe"
Be sure to put your username in the place where it says (replace with username).
If when you run Budget Aid you find the screen too small, try replacing the conf file in \AppData\Local\DOSBox with the conf file that is now in the budget folder. Configuration instructions are found at https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Dosbox.conf. Information on how to resize the window are found at https://askubuntu.com/questions/446728/dos-box-screen-resolution-problem
